Victor only intended to raise the English people’s spirits after the disaster of the Lightning Deluge—not conduct a running firefight with elite German commandos through the streets of Neo-Victorian London in a last-ditch attempt to stop a war.
The world’s technological base vanished overnight in fire and thunder.
The Lightning Deluge, a catastrophic blast of ball lightning from the Sun bigger than the Earth, an Ultra-High-Energy Coronal Mass Ejection Event, melted all the world’s electronics, plants, and factories down to slag—and set the all the world’s societies back two hundred years, back to the time of horses and buggies, picks and shovels.
And is about to spark a war between the U.K. and Germany.
The Germans and the French are at each other’s throats as a result of a nuclear accident caused by the Lightning Deluge. The U. K. has intervened in an attempt to keep the peace, enraging Germany. Tensions have risen to the boiling point between Germany and the U. K. as a result, to the point of war.
To humble the U. K., German commandos launch a daring raid on London.
King Victor and his Musketeer guards are caught up in the attack by sheer coincidence. Victor knows he must stop not only the German commandos, but, far more importantly, a return to old imperialist rivalries and attitudes and a far-too-possible repeat of terrible history.
Can Victor, young King of England, take charge, defeat the commandos, stop the war, and halt a return to the old imperialistic ways?
